How T-Mat Global Built a Custom ERP for a Retail Business in Guyana

T-Mat Global has engineered a fully custom Enterprise Resource Planning system on .NET 8.0 for a retail business in Guyana, delivered as a white-label product for a SaaS founder commercializing it across the Caribbean market.

Building enterprise software for an international client from India requires more than technical competence. It requires understanding the client's market, their operational realities, and the commercial model they are building around the software. This ERP project gave T-Mat Global exactly that challenge — and it has been one of the most instructive engagements we have delivered.

The Client and the Commercial Context

Our client is a SaaS founder who identified a gap in the Caribbean retail market: most mid-size retail businesses in the region are running either outdated legacy systems or generic off-the-shelf software that does not fit their operational model. The founder's thesis was straightforward — build a purpose-fit ERP for Caribbean retail, commercialize it as a white-label SaaS product, and T-Mat Global would serve as the dedicated engineering partner.

The end user for the initial deployment is a retail business in Guyana managing inventory across multiple locations, a finance and accounting function, a sales and order management workflow, and a customer base that needs proper CRM capability. The system needed to handle the realities of a Caribbean retail environment: intermittent connectivity in some locations, a mix of payment methods, multi-currency considerations, and a team with varying levels of technical familiarity.

What We Built

The system is a full-stack enterprise application with eight core modules, all built on a single unified data model. The architecture was designed for white-label deployment — each client instance runs in its own isolated environment, with the SaaS founder able to provision new clients without T-Mat Global involvement in day-to-day operations.

Inventory Management

Real-time stock tracking across multiple locations, automated reorder alerts, batch and expiry tracking, barcode support, and supplier management with purchase order workflows.

Finance and Accounting

Full double-entry accounting with chart of accounts customization, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, tax management, and financial reporting with audit trails.

Sales and Order Management

Point-of-sale integration, sales order processing, invoice generation, returns management, discount and promotion engine, and real-time sales dashboards.

Customer Management

Customer profiles, purchase history, credit terms management, loyalty tracking, and segmented communication for marketing campaigns.

Analytics and Reporting

Operational dashboards, profitability reports by product and category, inventory turnover metrics, sales trend analysis, and exportable reports for accountants and management.

HR and Payroll

Employee records, shift scheduling, attendance tracking, payroll calculation with tax deductions, and payslip generation — localized for the Caribbean regulatory environment.

Multi-Location Management

Centralized control of multiple store locations with location-specific inventory, inter-location stock transfers, and consolidated reporting across the entire retail group.

White-Label Administration

Tenant provisioning, branding customization, feature flag management per client, usage analytics, and a super-admin portal for the SaaS founder to manage the entire client portfolio.

The Technology Stack

We selected .NET 8.0 as the foundation because it is Microsoft's current LTS release with a five-year support window, strong performance for data-intensive operations, and excellent tooling for enterprise application development. The decision to use ASP.NET Core MVC for the frontend rather than a separate JavaScript framework was deliberate — it reduces deployment complexity and keeps the system maintainable by a small engineering team without specialist frontend expertise.

Technology Stack

  • .NET 8.0 / ASP.NET Core — application framework with LTS support
  • SQL Server — relational database with full ACID compliance
  • Entity Framework Core — ORM for database operations and migrations
  • Docker — containerized deployment for consistent environments
  • Azure Cloud — hosting with auto-scaling and managed backups
  • CI/CD Pipeline — automated testing and deployment on every commit
  • MVC Architecture — clean separation of concerns across the application
  • REST APIs — for integrations and the white-label provisioning layer

"The architecture was designed for a single end-user first and a SaaS platform second — because the fastest path to a reliable multi-tenant product is to build a genuinely excellent single-tenant product first."

Where We Are Now

At the time of writing, the system is in pre-delivery stage. Six of eight modules are complete and passing QA. The Analytics and Reporting module and the HR and Payroll module are in active development with expected completion within two weeks. Final end-to-end QA and production deployment on Azure are the last stages before handover to the client for acceptance testing.

The SaaS founder has already begun conversations with a second retail client in the Caribbean, which will be the first test of the white-label provisioning system in a live commercial context.

Who This Is Relevant For

If you are a SaaS founder building a vertical software product and need a dedicated engineering partner to build it — T-Mat Global's engagement model is designed for exactly this. We work as an embedded engineering team, not a vendor delivering to a spec document. We participate in architectural decisions, flag risks early, and treat the product's commercial success as our own design constraint.

If you run a retail business that needs a custom ERP — whether in the Caribbean, South Asia, the Gulf or elsewhere — and generic off-the-shelf solutions have not fit your operational model, T-Mat Global can scope and deliver a purpose-built system for your context.
